One day, we were talking with Alfonso ("The Phons"), our landlord, out on the property at our apartment complex. Phons pointed out a small pen that was off the side of the driveway, down toward the river. We had walked by on the driveway many times but never noticed it. In the pen was a pig, which Phons said was for his Birthday celebration, coming up in a little while. I don't know how long the pig had been there but I was pretty sure I knew how long he was going to stay there.
A few days before the Birthday party, to be held on Saturday (10/18), I decided I'd better get a few pictures of the little oinker. We had a bag of food scraps that I took down to give to him on Friday (10/17) and discovered he was missing. Doubting that he escaped, I figured he wouldn't be needing the scraps.
Sure enough, on Saturday morning a few guys were down at the carport with some nice, fresh pork they were preparing for the party. Unfortunately, Tina and I had previously accepted a lunch invitation from some friends from church and we were gone from 11am until about 3pm. We missed the party, which was at lunch time. Knowing Phons, I'm sure it was a good party and I'll bet everyone pigged out... (sorry, couldn't help it.).
